It’s something to know that at times when I feel the pangs of hunger it’s almost always nothing to do with food but everything to do with desiring to be filled with the wrong thing which is never adequate enough to satiate the hunger.
In my estimation, only God can fill the emptiness brought on by hunger having nothing to do with food.
The renewing of the mind (Romans 12:2 AMP) is not a SMALL matter. Some people choose to renew their minds, some don’t choose to renew their minds and others think they are renewing their minds by checking their minds into the latest trends, escapes, fantasies, material trinkets or dysfunctional lifestyles only to be bombarded with negative thoughts about self, competitiveness or obsessive thinking that dishonors the self.
Renewing the mind as I see it is about going DEEP way beyond the surface of things. It’s about living a life that reflects values and internal growth that shines through for all to see although renewing the mind is not about being seen. It’s authentic peaceable living that reflects spiritual beliefs and maturity.
How does a person renew their mind? The answer is being around people who reflect the values you have. Being around people who believe in and decide to experience spiritual growth; being responsive to God’s will in your life. Not entertaining things that negatively distract. Not letting your senses lead you or set your priorities.
The most important thing to realize is that renewing the mind is NOT a one time thing. Renewing the mind is an ongoing process.
